Specialize in respiratory and cardiovascular system; we have obtained a Japanese patent for evaluation system on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in February 2011.

 

1. Evaluation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

We investigate drug effect on changes of respiratory function, changes of the number of inflammatory cells in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid or histological changes, and changes of average alveolar size of model animals.

2. Evaluation by Animal Models for Allergic Rhinitis

Antigen-induced immediate and late responses of guinea pig
We investigate drug effect on ovalbumin (OVA) induced immediate-type and delayed-type rhinitis (nasal congestion) response or inflammatory cell infiltration to the nasal cavity using OVA-sensitized guinea pig.
Vascular permeability on the nasal mucosa of rat
We investigate drug effect on increase of vascular permeability on the nasal mucosa by Ovalbumin (OVA) induction with parameters of dye leakage to the nasal cavity using OVA-sensitized rat.

3. Evaluation by Animal Models for Asthma

Antigen-induced immediate and late responses of guinea pig
We investigate drug effect on ovalbumin (OVA) induced immediate-type and delayed-type asthmatic (airway obstruction) response or inflammatory cell infiltration to the airway lumen using OVA-sensitized guinea pig.
Airway hypersensitivity and airway remodeling of mouse
We investigate drug effect on ovalbumin (OVA) induced airway hypersensitivity response, cell count in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, cytokine and tissue changes using OVA sensitized mouse. In addition, evaluate airway remodeling of long term antigen-induced animals.

Respiratory system

Experienced scientists who have experiences of rhinitis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis models are in charge of studies. Especially, different models of disease such as tabacco fluid dosing model (guinea pig) and tabacco smoke exposure model (mouse, rat, guinea pig) could be used in evaluation for COPD.

Cardiovascular system

Special assessment using assessing antihypertensive efficacy by telemetry and tail-cuff methods (rat, dog, monkey), X-ray, Ultrasonography (echography), Holter electrocardiography, etc.

Various model animals such as corneal epithelial detachment

Various model animals with hair restoration, hair growth, whitening, and moisture retention
